About Chulynda

Salt Hippy was born from a life shaped by change, loss, and the quiet determination to keep creating.
Over the past decade, I’ve experienced profound loss, my father, my uncle, my grandmother, and my former husband. Each absence reshaped the landscape of my life, leaving both emptiness and clarity in its wake. In those moments when words felt inadequate, art became my way forward, not to escape grief, but to sit with it, soften it, and slowly transform it.
My work is rooted in the belief that beauty does not disappear after loss, it evolves.
Through watercolor, ink, and digital surface design, I create nature-inspired pieces that reflect cycles of breaking and becoming. Ocean life, botanicals, and organic forms appear again and again in my work, not by accident, but because nature understands what it means to endure, to shed, to return. The sea pulls back and comes forward. Flowers bloom after storms. Life insists on itself, gently and persistently.
Art, for me, is an act of resilience.
A practice of slowing down.
A way to hold memory without being consumed by it.
I don’t create from grief, I create after it.
From the space where healing begins.
From the choice to remain open, curious, and connected.
Salt Hippy exists for those who find comfort in color, meaning in small details, and calm in the presence of something thoughtfully made. My hope is that each piece offers a pause, a breath, and a reminder that even after loss, beauty continues to grow.
